The IEEE Saudi Arabia Section is pleased to announce a 1-day technical seminar as part of its industry continuing education program. Participants will receive a certificate of completion with professional development hours (PDH).The seminar focuses on motor testing, troubleshooting and failure analysis. The topics will be presented by international speakers:

Sang Bin Lee received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, in 1995 and 1997, respectively; and his Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, in 2001; all in Electrical Engineering. From 2001 to 2004 he was with the Electric Machines and Drives Laboratory, General Electric Global Research Center (GE GRC), Schenectady, NY.  At GE GRC, he developed an inter-laminar core fault detector for generator stator cores, and worked on insulation quality assessments for electric machines. From 2010 to 2011 he was with Electric Drive Technologies, Austrian Institute of Technology (aka Arsenal Research Laboratory), Vienna, Austria, as a Research Scientist where he worked oncondition monitoring of PM synchronous machines. Since 2004, he has been a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Korea University, Seoul, Korea. His current research interests are in protection, monitoring, diagnostics and analysis of electric machines and drives. Dr. Lee was the recipient of the 2005 PES Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Power Engineering Society (PES), the 2011 First Prize, 2008 Second Prize, 2005 First Prize, and 2001 Second Prize Paper Awards from the Electric Machines Committee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), and the 2013, 2011 and 2009 SDEMPED Prize Paper Awards from the Technical Committee on Diagnostics of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS). He serves as a Distinguished Lecturer (2014-2015) for IEEE IAS, and as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications for the IEEE IAS Electric Machines Committee.

p.netiPrabhakar Neti
received his B.S. degree from S.V. University, India, and his M.S. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India, in 1994 and 1996, respectively, both in Electrical Engineering. From 1996 to 2002, he served as a faculty member at different technical institutions in India. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Victoria, Canada in 2007. From May 2007 to April 2008, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, Canada. He is currently working as a Senior Engineer at General Electric – Global Research Center, Niskayuna, NY, USA. As part of his research contributions, Dr. Neti has invented a novel high sensitivity differential current transformer that enabled measurement of capacitance and the dissipation factor of stator insulation of large motors online for the first time in the world. He also made major improvements in electrical signature analysis based motor monitoring. He has over 15 patent filings in the U.S. and worldwide. His research interests are mainly in the area of asset management of electrical equipment with special focus on electrical machines.
